It had barely stopped before an officer was out of the car and running straight toward me. I thought he was coming for me, but he swerved and ran into the Dunne building. Perhaps he was late for a meeting. I crossed the street, heading toward the parking garage where I’d left my vehicle, when several more cop cars arrived with blaring sirens, pulling to a stop behind the initial cop car. The first responders all ran inside, dodging people on their way out. I turned where I was and studied the building with a frown from the other side of the street, wondering what was happening.
