This is a very detailed, comprehensive yet concise book about kratom leaf and it's alkaloids and polyphenols, mainly from a pharmacological, biological, chemical, and subjective perspective. There is detail about the different curing processes of kratom leaf and how that contributes to the color, oxalate content and calcium binding potential, bacteria and fungi content, alkaloid content, and more. It talks about the various different alkaloids and polyphenols found in kratom leaf, including their ability to modulate the effects of both mu opioid agonists and CB1 agonists, and how mu opioid receptors have some direct and indirect connection to CB1 receptors, like the functions of CB1-mu heterodimers, the rewarding effect of mitragynine and morphine being dependent on CB1 receptor expression, the rewarding effect of delta-9-THC being dependent on mu opioid receptor expression, and more. It talks about the pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, physicochemcial properties, and drug absorption properties of the alkaloids and polyphenols, and this includes the minor alkaloids like corynantheidine. I include almost every published experimental study using mitragynine, full spectrum kratom alkaloid extract, kratom tea, and 7-hydroxymitragynine, and also show relevant studies with other alkaloids, polyphenols, and more, from mice, rats, and humans. Based on that data, I talk about the optimal dosages of mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, the optimal methods of taking these alkaloids, how mitragynine and 7-OHM act in the gut and where they are primarily absorbed (duodenum and jejunum), and much more. I also talk about the therapeutic effects of the major alkaloids, some polyphenols, and other compounds related to optimal methods of kratom alkaloid consumption. I give a simple explanation of how to form a good salt like the citrate salt, as well as a more complex mitragynine/7-OHM/etc. NLC/SLC (+ chitosan if desired) formulation, which may be better absorbed, more potent, better at brain penetration, longer lasting, and less toxic than the HCL salt of mitragynine taken orally in water. I review subjective effects of various grades of kratom tea with their full spectrum HPLC tests for alkaloid content shown (I.E low quality, low mitragynine fermented/oxidized kratom, versus high quality, high mitragynine green/fresh/unoxidized kratom), as well as various grades of mitragynine dominant alkaloid extracts from different companies. I also review the subjective effects of 7-hydroxymitragynine made by myself as well as another brand, and a 28% speciociliatine extract from chai botanicals. There is also the potential to learn how to hydroxylate kratom alkaloids directly, from me, which I mention in the book.
